Jane Watlins CBT OCD treatment with a professional therapist Effective CBT techniques for OCD

Specialist CBT for Anxiety

If you are looking for specialist Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) for anxiety and maybe specifically OCD, you are in the right place.  Research suggests that CBT is the best evidence based therapy for anxiety and OCD.  I specialise in treating anxiety, and within the anxiety experience, OCD, GAD (generalised anxiety disorder), stress and low self-esteem.

How does CBT help OCD?
We will start by understanding your OCD.  Everyone's OCD is different.  Everyone's OCD causes so much distress to the individual experiencing it and often for those around them.

OCD tends to get you into really unhelpful loops and cycles.  The good news about this, is that cycles can be broken and break them we will!  We will use various methods do to this.  ERP for OCD, is one, but stand alone ERP is not effective in my experience. It needs to be used along side other strategies.  If you have done standalone ERP and not found it works, don't despair.  Please do get in touch and I can talk to you about your experience and hopefully give you a more effective experience by using CBT, CFT (compassion focussed therapy) & ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) with ERP alongside.

I will help you look at why you get so scared, generally, my clients are terrified.  I get it.  You are reacting from a place of fear.  It is a "just in case" strategy.  You want to feel safe and you want to keep others safe.  You buy into OCD because none of things you fear have happened because of OCD, right? But also, you KNOW, that none of things you are doing make any sense. It is a very confusing place to be. I will help you understand your OCD, how it operates, look at the bully that is.  OCD might feel like your friend in a way, keeping you safe from disaster?  However, there is NOTHING helpful about OCD whatsoever.  But we do need to look a this side of it, the reasons why you cannot stop those obsessions, this is really important.

I can help you take a more balanced approach to life instead of the extreme measures you are taking right now. I offer a free 30 minute phone call to discuss your case.  Get in touch now.

Therapy for anxiety, specialising in Obessive Compulsive Disorder in young people and adults along with GAD and low self-esteem. Online therapy delivered to your home for your convenience.

Who do you work with?

I work with adults and children from age 13 years and up.

What therapy do you offer?

I am a CBT (cognitive behaviour Therapy) Therapist and you can be reassured that I am BACBP accredited (The gold standard for CBT Therapists in relation to training and regulation of the profession).  I also am trained in other therapies that can be really helpful in treating anxiety such as CFT (compassion focussed therapy, mindfulness and ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy).

What do you work with?

I specialise in working with anxiety disorders, more commonly referred to as 'worry or worrying'.  I particularly work with OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) but can also work with GAD (Generalised Anxiety Disorder, stress, imposter syndrome, low self-esteem and perfectionism that cause lots of anxiety.

I would add that I have observed how OCD and low self-esteem often go hand in hand.  If both are a difficulty for you, rest assured we will treat both.

How do I get started with therapy?

I do believe that the best therapy for OCD is CBT super-powered by CFT and mindfulness, see my 'therapy' page for more about this.

always speak to prospective new clients on the phone first.  I want to make sure I think I can help and it gives you the opportunity to ask me any questions you may have.  There is no charge for this initial 20 minute phone call.

I will arrange this with you for a time that is convenient for us both.

You can either email me or use the contact form, with the button below, to get in touch to make that first step.
